About Department of General, Visceral, Vascular and Transplant Surgery
The Department of General, Visceral, Vascular and Transplant Surgery is a surgical department providing maximum care at the University Medical Center Essen. It covers the entire spectrum of general, visceral, and transplant surgery and is one of the strongest transplantation centers in Europe for liver and kidney transplantation. A large proportion of procedures are performed minimally invasively using laparoscopic and robotic techniques. The department works interdisciplinarily with all specialist departments of the University Hospital Essen and offers, among other things, a second opinion consultation for complex visceral diseases.
