The Department of Anaesthesiology and Operative Intensive Care Medicine at Cologne University Hospital offers the full spectrum of the specialty at nationally and internationally recognised level: anaesthesiology, intensive care, emergency medicine and pain therapy. Over 40,000 patients are cared for anaesthesiologically each year. The department has 180 medical staff, several intensive care units (1C, 1D, PACU, neurosurgical ICU), a pain centre with a specialist lipoedema pain clinic and anaesthesia outpatient clinics at three sites on the university hospital campus in Cologne.
